본 전시를 기획한 미디어 아티스트 그룹 사일로랩(SILO Lab)은 과거로부터 빛에 대한 연구를 지속해 온 팀으로
예술과 기술이 결합된 기술적 상상력을 ‘빛’과 ‘풍등’의 문화를 통해 하나 된 아시아로 상징하고자 했습니다.
하늘에 올리는 재의적 의미의 작품 <풍화 風火>는 전통적인 아세안의 풍등을 재매개 하여
수직적 움직임을 통해 하늘로 날아오르는 아시아인들의 염원을 상징합니다.
반면 <묘화 妙火>의 경우, 100년 이상 우리 주변을 밝혀온 백열전구의 소멸과정에서 따스하게 느껴지는
감성적 빛을 경험하게 만드는 작품입니다. 관람객들은 두 작품이 제공하는 상호작용적 체험을 통해
빛으로 연결되는 아시아의 미래와 하나 된 아시아를 염원하게 될 것입니다.
The media artist group SILO Lab, which planned this exhibition, is a team that has been
researching light since the past, and they wanted to symbolize the technological imagination
that combines art and technology as a unified Asia through the culture of ‘light’ and
‘sky lanterns.’ The work <BREEZING EMBER>, which has a symbolic meaning of being raised to
the sky, re-mediates the traditional ASEAN sky lanterns and symbolizes the wish of Asians to fly
into the sky through vertical movement. On the other hand, <MYSTERIOUS FIRE> is a work that
allows us to experience the warm and emotional light felt in the process of the extinction of
incandescent light bulbs that have illuminated our surroundings for over 100 years. Through
the interactive experience provided by the two works, the audience will yearn for
a future of Asia connected by light and a unified Asia.
