조선 왕실 밤잔치의 풍광을 모티브로 한 <연화>는 사랑채의 서정성과 어우러지는 점진적 빛을 통해, 오는 이를 따스히 맞는 미디어아트 작품이다. 

예로부터 선조들은 사랑채에서 마음을 정화하고, 오는 이를 반색하곤 했다. 관람자는 아른한 빛을 따라 걸음걸음을 옮기며, 반딧불이 일렁이는 사랑채 앞뜰의 평화로움을, 오늘날 미디어아트로 재구성된 사랑채 밤잔치에서의 설렘을 맞게 된다. 서로를 연결하는 반딧불의 빛, 밤잔치를 밝히는 ‘사각유리등’ 연화의 빛을 통해, 오늘날 오는 이를 반가이 맞고, 모두의 새로운 시작을 찬연히 비추길 바라며 기획되었다.

<Festive Ember>, inspired by the scenery of the Joseon royal banquet, is a media art piece that warmly welcomes those who come through gradual light that blends with the lyricism of Sarangchae. Since ancient times, our ancestors used to purify their hearts in Sarangchae and greet those who come. As the audience walks along the dim light, they encounter the peacefulness of the Sarangchae front yard where fireflies sway and the excitement of Sarangchae night banquet reconstructed as media art today. Through the light of fireflies connecting each other and the light of the ‘square glass lantern’ <Festive Ember> that illuminates the night banquet, it was planned with the hope of welcoming those who come today and brilliantly illuminating everyone’s new beginning.
